Working on Rihanna discography covers was a lot of fun. Rihanna is a photogenic person and I wanted to include her face in all of the covers and also using the font (VERSUS) by Marcelo Moya Ochoa and the tool envelop distort helped me a lot to try different design variations. I tried to capture the essence of each original album cover but with my twist to it.
I have always loved Gaga's album covers (especially Chromatica). Her team know their gig when it comes to designing her aesthetic for an era. The hardest thing for me to try and recapture the charm of the original covers but with a modern twist to it and more avant-garde using the font IKANSEEYOUALL by LAB
When it comes to Britney's official album covers, I feel like the graphic designers who worked on them really were just bored and couldn't relate to the artist nor they captured what the albums were about. Using the modern approach, I decided to create a minimalistic yet eye-catching covers for Ms Spears using the font MADE Soulmaze by Made Type. I also tried to not show Britney's face a lot in the covers I made because of her shy personality and I thought it looked (cool and artsy fartsy)!.
The queen of pop! Madonna's album covers are a hit-and-miss. Sometimes they look cool (American Life, Confessions) other times they look cheap-ish (Music, MDNA). I decided to try and reflect each era of the music represented in her albums (since 1994) with a minimalistic approach while using the font didonesque Paulo Goode.
